We will be teaming up with our pal (and IoM Contributor) Kyle from View From the Cheap Seats to visit this years’ Midsummer Scream in Long Beach, CA! What is Midsummer Scream? Well….

Midsummer Scream is the world’s largest Halloween and horror convention, bringing all the thrills of October to one summer weekend.

  • Haunted houses? We have over a dozen in our dark zone, The Hall of Shadows. (check out all attractions here).

  • Horror movies? Visit the HorrorBuzz Screaming Room, where an exclusive selection of horror shorts will play all weekend long.

  • Ghost stories? Check out our panels from Buzzfeed Unsolved and Nerdist’s Bizarre States.

  • Costumes and decor and Halloween shopping? Visit our showfloor of over 250 spooky vendors.

  • Dark entertainment? We have several live performances all weekend long, from Zombie Joe’s Urban Death to immersive theatre activations to horror fashion shows and more.

  • Black cats? Yep. You’re covered there as well at our Black Cat Lounge, where you can adopt kittens who’ll be running amuck all weekend long.

  • Elvira, Mistress of the Dark? Of course. Cassandra Peterson will be with us all weekend, signing autographs, taking photos with fans, and on stage with a presentation celebrating the 30th anniversary of her big screen debut.

  • A Halloween party? Not just any party – at Midsummer Scream After Dark, on Saturday, July 28, we’ll have a $500 costume contest, naughty magic show, horror trivia, and a special screening of Child’s Play with writer/director Tom Holland giving live commentary.

In addition, one of the things we’re most excited for is on Sunday, July 29, during the
“Horror Made Here: A Festival of Frights presentation.” Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood’s 2018 Halloween event will feature a sneak peak at this year’s event, including (hopefully) the awesome Arkham Asylum themed haunt!

Also, Thora Birch from Hocus Pocus will be in attendance for Sunday’s “We Put A Spell On You: Celebrating 25 Years of ‘Hocus Pocus'” presentation, with producer David Kirschner, writer Mick Garris, composer John Debney, and more!

“Universal Studios Hollywood’s Halloween Horror Nights presentation” with creative director John Murdy and art director Chris Williams with feature an inside look at this year’s event in California.

Finally, Saturday, July 28 is the official Midsummer Scream After Dark afterparty! Featuring a  $500 costume contest, horror trivia with prizes, a naughty magic show from Mudd the Magnificent, and a special screening of “Child’s Play” with live commentary by writer/director Tom Holland!
