Still Shyamalan's best film.

So while out doing press for his upcoming movie Cop Out, Bruce Willis apparently said that, as long as M. Night Shyamalan and Samuel L. Jackson are up for it, he’s game for Unbreakable 2.  I’m in the minority of people (and I’m sure many of them read this site) who absolutely love the original Unbreakable.  In fact, I’d venture to say it’s Shyamalan’s best work to date.  It’s not a perfect film by any stretch of the imagination, but I love the deeply personal take on a superhero movie.  It’s not all flash bang all the time, and many films seem to forget that in exchange for big CG-laden special effects and giant explosions.  Unbreakable told a story that we don’t usually see in comics or movies, but it felt like it belonged in both.  Shyamalan and the cast have said that this was supposed to be the start of a trilogy – I’d love to see that fleshed out on the screen someday.  Will we see it?  It seems doubtful, but if The Last Airbender is a big hit, it’s possible it may happen (as long as Shyamalan doesn’t have to jump into Airbender 2 right away).

However, on the subject of films that will probably never see the light of day, Wesley Snipes is saying that he’d love to be involved in the new Blade film.  Despite the fact that the film is proposed as a reboot, Snipes would like to return to the titular role to continue the original film series.  I don’t see this happening, given his reputation for being difficult to work with on the previous movies.  But what it really all boils down to is that I’m just upset I’ll never see the end of the excellent TV series – Sticky Fingaz really did an excellent job with the character and only got better as the show went on.  I’d love to see him return to the role.
