The Pault KeeperIs it just me, or do you have to go to multiple comic shops all across town just to pick up the comics you want?  I love my local comic shop, but it seems harder and harder, especially in today’s economy where most comic shops are just trying to order what they think will sell, to be able to walk into a comic shop and actually pick up a book I don’t normally buy.

I don’t normally buy Avengers: The Initiative, but when Humberto Ramos came on as the artist (I’m a huge Humberto Ramos fan), I thought I’d give it a shot.  Well, let’s say it’s typically a low selling comic book, so the comic store only orders what fills their pull list, and maybe a couple of extra copies.  Well, in a matter of hours, the three extra copies that the store ordered are gone.  Well, I tell myself, if it’s not something I normally buy, I won’t feel guilty going to another shop to pick it up.

And so on and so on.  If I’m interested in the new Star Trek: Countdown miniseries, I might have to hit two or three comic shops before I find it.  I find that, to get my weekly haul, especially on a busy week, I might need to hit more than one comic store.  Am I the only one with this issue?  I know what some of you will say: why not just ask your LCS to pull your comics aside for you? Which is a good point, but at the same time, I like to be able to browse a selection and choose what I want.  Sure, there are some comics I pick up regularly, but most of the comics I pick up regularly at one time I had to give a try just by finding an issue on the shelf, right?  How do you get people into new comics when they can’t find them?

What do you say, comic fans?  Do you typically hit more than one comic shop to get your weekly haul?  Do you feel guilty “cheating” on your LCS?
