Store owner Richard Neal visits with his guests.

Free Comic Book Day was all kinds of wonderful at Zeus Comics in Dallas, Texas yesterday. Store owner Richad Neal continues to support the hobby and the local comics community by bringing in great guests for the event.  Luminaries such as PVP’s Scott Kurtz and House of Mystery’s Matt Sturges signed autographs while chatting with fans alongside artist Kristian Donaldson the Crow’s James O’Barr.

As is the store’s tradition, Zeus offered up an amazing 25-cent comic sale on thousands of comics.

If that wasn’t enough, Zeus was giving out free passes to see a special screening of Star Trek Monday evening.

And oh yes, the store had more than 4000 free comics to give away.

In previous years, Zeus has hosted CAPE! an event widely acknowledged as the largest Free Comic Book Day in the world.  After hosting four wildly fantastic events, Neal and his crew of heroes took 2009 off.  Still, their “off” year beats the pants off of any other FCBD event in these parts.

In addition to a stack of freebies, I hauled in more than 70 quarter comics, plus a Savage Worlds gaming book.  Woot!

Awesome, awesome Free Comic Book Day at Zeus, the best damned comic shop in Texas.
