This week, I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know. Everyone knows who Queen is. I mean, according to The Guinness Book of World Records, Queen albums have spent a total of 27 years on UK album charts. In case you missed that: 27 years, that’s more time than any other musical act. Queen has spent more time on the charts then I’ve been alive.
Why write about such a well known, popular band? Because I just rediscovered them. I have a few Queen albums but they were lost to me until recently. While flipping through an old CD case I found I stumbled onto my old Queen CDs. I haven’t though about Queen in a few years and I’d bet I’m not the only one who does this with music. That is why I write this. For those of you who already like the band, but just haven’t thought about it in awhile.
The biggest dilemma I have is what single song to post with this. I’m tempted to go with Bohemian Rhapsody, what is considered by many to be the greatest single of all time. Maybe Under Pressure? It’s got Queen AND David Bowie, one of the greatest team-ups since Peanut Butter and Chocolate. I could score some extra nerd cred and post Princes Of The Universe. No, none of those. I’m going to post the first Queen song I ever heard around twenty years ago.
