Moon Knight vs. Ghost Rider?
Moon Knight vs. Ghost Rider?

I recently dropped out of Marvel’s Daredevil title (currently being written by Andy Diggle), not out of dislike for the current run, which I do think is very interesting (Matt Murdock has taken control of The Hand, and is trying to reform it from within), but just because it seemed like a story in which the pacing would be better suited in trades.  Of course, that may have to change this July when Shadowland, which looked like a story I can’t miss, begins.  Touted as “The Battle for the Soul of New York,” the solicitation for the book reads:

Matt Murdock Dared Evil…and Lost! The battle for the soul of a hero begins! Pushed beyond his limits, Daredevil faces off for a final time against his deadliest foe–Bullseye– in their most brutal battle ever with more than just Hell’s Kitchen is at stake. Spider-Man, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher and more join forces to stop a war that is breaking out throughout New York, with Daredevil at the center. This event will change the streets of New York City—and the heroes that protect it—forever. Plus, a jaw-dropping final page that will have everyone talking for years to come!

Maybe Bullseye will finally bite it in this post-Siege world?  Shadowland seems a direct contrast to the whole Heroic Age banner, but maybe it’s a way of lining up Daredevil with the rest of the Marvel Universe?  Or a way to link together all of Marvel’s street-level heroes into one central event?  Either way, there’s some great information online, including a look at a couple more teasers, and an interview with writer Andy Diggle.

Expect Shadowland updates on future episodes of Funnybooks with Aron and Paulie.
