Hmmm…there’s some interesting stuff coming up in July, based on Marvel’s July solicits, including what appears to be a “Rebirth”-style series, featuring the return of a beloved character, an interesting new take on the X-Men, and some interesting stuff finally happening to Spider-Man and Hulk! Click the pic of the Dark X-Men to check out the good stuff!

Penciled by BRYAN HITCH
50/50 Covers by BRYAN HITCH & ALEX ROSS

So…I’m guessing this is like DC’s Green Lantern and Flash “Rebirth” minis. Except with Captain America.

UTOPIA TIE-IN
Who are the Dark X-Men and how did they come to be? FIND OUT HERE! Each issue has 3 11-page stories, each dedicated to one of the Dark X-Men and how they came to be part of the team. This first two issues focus on Emma Frost, Mimic, Cloak & Dagger, Daken, Weapon X and Dark Beast!
40 PGS.(each)/Rated A …$3.99 (each)
Not sure about the team, honestly. But it’s got Humberto Ramos art. Technically, I think of X-Force as a “Dark X-Men,” but this plays into the whole Dark Reign bit which, it’s already been hinted at, isn’t going to be around TOO much longer.
DARK REIGN: THE SINISTER SPIDER-MAN #2 (of 4)
Written by BRIAN REED
Pencils & Cover by CHRIS BACHALO
The name’s Mac Gargan, and the whole city of New York thinks I’m Spider-Man. They love me and I can do anything I like. What I like is making J. Jonah Jameson’s life a living hell. Well, that… and eating people. But that seems to have ticked off some folks. Turns out even super-powered criminals have feelings, and they’ve all teamed up with this nutjob scientist named The Redeemer to kill me. Also, who the heck is THE HIPPO? By Brian Reed (Ms. Marvel) and Chris Bachalo (New Avengers).
32 PGS./Rated T+…$3.99
Another title that interests me totally because of the art. Chris Bachalo doing Venom? Holy crap, that’s awesome! Not a huge fan of the Mac Gargan Venom, but even Eddie Brock Venom got a bit lame at the end. What the hell happened to Carnage? Anyone know?
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #600

The greatest Marvel super hero of all celebrates his 600th issue with the biggest all-original issue of Amazing Spider-Man EVER! This one’s got it all! The return of Doctor Octopus, Daredevil, a wedding you never predicted, and the return of one of the most important people in Peter Parker’s life in a giant-sized lead story by Dan Slott and John Romita Jr. Doc’s back in town, but it’s only a prelude to darker days ahead as Spidey unknowingly prepares for a gauntlet he can’t even see coming.
On top of all that, witness the return of one of Spider-man’s creators, Smilin’ Stan Lee (along with Masticatin’ Marcos Martin) as he presents a story of unbridled passion, drama and angst as Spidey reflects over his many, many years of adventures.
But that ain’t all…as the rest of the Spidey Web-Heads bring you several short features showcasing some rarely explored aspects of both Spidey and Pete’s life, drawn by some of the greatest artists in comics. Plus, several other surprises and NO REPRINTS! 104 pages of goodness brought to you by some of the best creators that have ever worked on Spidey!
104 PGS./All-New/Rated A …$4.99
While I haven’t been collecting Spidey for a while, a giant-sized lead story by Dan Slott and JRJR is tempting. Maybe something important will happen.

104 PGS./38 All-New Pages & Reprints/Rated A …$4.99
Kind of wondering how this counts as issue 600. What about Incredible Hercules? What 600 comic books are they counting to get to this number? Will they finally reveal who the hell Red Hulk is? Kinda glad I stopped buying this title if they STILL haven’t revealed that bit of info. I thought it would have been revealed in the first storyline.
MARVEL ADVENTURES SPIDER-MAN #53
Written by PAUL TOBIN
Penciled by MATTEO LOLLI
Cover by SKOTTIE YOUNG
A NEW ERA BEGINS!!!!!! New creative team PAUL TOBIN and MATTEO LOLLI proudly present a new take on the most popular character in the Marvel Universe: A young mind-reader named Emma Frost may have figured out Peter Parker’s secret. Question is, what does she do with this deadly information? Twenty-two jam-packed pages of fun, all wrapped up in a gorgeous Skottie Young (Wonderful Wizard of Oz) cover!
32 PGS./All Ages …$2.99
The cover by Skottie Young is pretty sweet. I read the first couple of digest-sized trades for this series and I really kind of dug them. It’s like old school Spider-Man (not like Ultimate Spidey) when it was fun. My only question with some of these titles is…we now have three or four Spidey continuities that have been going for over 50 issues now. How many times can you reboot a series and have the continuities co-exist?
