CapricaSo, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter and EW, we now know that the upcoming Battlestar Galtactica prequel series CAPRICA (coming to Syfy January 22), which already boasts an impressive cast (including series leads Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales), will be adding two big name (at least in geekdom) stars!  Buffy/Angel/Torchwood’s James Marsters will be playing “a dangerous terrorist leader by the name of Barnabus Greeley in a minimum of three episodes. Driven by desires both moralistic and carnal, Barnabus is as lethal as he is unpredictable.”  It should be noted that Buffy writer Jane Espenson is executive producing Caprica.

In addition, Patton Oswalt will be playing “Baxter Sarno, a popular Caprican comedian talk show host on whose show Daniel Graystone (Eric Stoltz) and Amanda Graystone (Paula Malcomson), ultimately appear.”  Sounds like a perfect role to take advantage of Oswalt’s talents!

I might have a hard time looking past these two actors to see the characters they are playing, which is something that I had very little problem with Galactica, but nothing wrong with adding some talent to what’s already great television.  Check out my review of the pilot here!
