I put an exclamation point in the title, but I’m not entirely sure how excited I am about this announcement.  I mean, don’t get me wrong – Singer’s a competent director.  I enjoyed Valkyrie.  I liked the first two X-Men flicks….er…wait, I take that back.  I liked X-Men 2.  I didn’t really care for the first.  Still, if there’s one thing that I’ve learned, it’s that he’s not the best at directing action.  Plus, after watching X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the concept of a First Class film doesn’t entirely excite me.

Still, I think one thing that could really help a film like this would be a killer story.  If they’d hire Allan Heinberg (The O.C., Young Avengers) to pen a draft of the screenplay, I think we could be looking at a really great flick.

What do you guys think?  I know I’m in the minority, thinking the original X-Men flick isn’t that great.  Are you excited for a reboot of the franchise in  First Class?
