Not a ton of video game news during the holiday weeks, but there have been numerous demos released, including a demo for God of War III, the sequel to Army of Two, and the much-anticipated Xbox Live demo for Dante’s Inferno. In addition, I was able to glean a couple of exciting news items for 2010 video game goodness.
All this and more after the jump!
Darksiders comes out this week, and though we haven’t had a demo released (I pre-ordered the game almost specifically so I could get the Joe Mad comic book that it comes with), we do have a review, courtesy of Game Informer, that is pretty darn positive. Apparently, it plays kind of like a mix between God of War and the recent Legend of Zelda games. Nothing wrong with that, right? Check out some footage of the game below:
Sounds like Uncharted 2 might get some new DLC this year in the form of new co-op missions. Tell you the truth, I’d pay for a fully DLC Uncharted adventure that I could complete in an hour or two, like the Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty. Obviously, there is significant investment involved, because of the voice acting and motion capture, I think they’d more than make their money back, whereas they may not for co-op DLC. I’d even be willing to wait longer for Uncharted 3 if I had something to play in the meantime!
Kingdom Hearts 3? Kingdom Hearts and its sequel are two games I really wish I could have completed, but I just never got around to it. Maybe if Kingdom Hearts 3 is ever released, I’ll be able to get my chance at finally completing one of these excellent games. Though it’s not been confirmed, a recent interview with Tetsya Nomura is rumored to be the announcement of the much hoped-for sequel. Fingers crossed!
Hmmm…answers about the ending of Assassin’s Creed II. I haven’t played the sequel, but apparently the ending is even more confusing than that of the first game. Though these are merely theories right now, creators of Assassin’s Creed II have hinted that this blogger is definitely on the right track.
The demos for both Army of Two: The 40th Day (Co-Op only) and Dante’s Inferno were released to Xbox Live this week. I’ve spoken in a previous VGM about my thoughts on the Dante’s Inferno demo – definitely worth checking out! Here’s some gameplay footage from The 40th Day:
I played the God of War III demo that came on the District 9 blu-ray this week, and man … this game looks and plays spectacularly. I’ve never played a previous GoW entry, so I was excited to take control of Kratos for the first game. My wife was fascinated with the game, and appalled by its violence. Still, this game looks to be a great action game for fans of the originals, or even those taking a spin for the first time.
