You know…I love the character of the Green Hornet, I love the concept of the Green Hornet, and I absolutely love the TV series that starred Bruce Lee as Kato.  Unfortunately, I’m not entirely sure what the hell the folks at Universal have been trying to do with the property.  First they hired Kevin Smith as the writer and, when that fell through, went with direction by Michel Gondry and script by Pineapple Express team Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.  Then, they cast Rogen as the title character and Taiwanese pop star Jay Chou as Kato.  Seriously, WTH?

And then there’s this trailer…

I’m really not sold on this film, based on the trailer.  It’s really kind of an odd-looking film, and the dialogue seems a little forced…well, a lot forced.  Not only that, the choice of Rogen as the hero, despite his attempts to get in shape, appear to be as bad of an idea as I originally thought.  I’m hoping as we near the release of the film in January, the film starts to look better.  Fingers crossed.
Am I the only one who finds it funny how similar this looks to the Kevin Smith film that supposedly got scrapped (and is now being adapted as a Dynamite Entertainment comic).
What do you think?
