Welcome back after a fairly boring skip week, we head into a fairly boring week.  Once more, not a long has come out.  But that won’t stop me from trying to find a gem in all the mediocrity.  Also there was some  news this week that caught my attention.  So, let’s get this starter here at Spandex and Capes!

“The itsy, bitsy spider climbed up the waterspout” – P. Parker

Comic News:  So the cover of has two things of interest – one is the inscription on Thor’s hammer now says she instead of he.  Which is kind of old news.  The other is that the fiery guy above Loki isn’t Surtur, but a brand new character.  Probably the end boss of the Lady Thor arc.

TV News: So before we get a Hawkgirl, Hawkman will be showing up in both Flash and Arrow.  Flash also adds Wally West while Vandal Savage is finally cast for Legends of Tomorrow.  Supergirl is adding Lucy Lane to their cast.  And finally, Agent Carter will be facing off against Madame Masque.

Spider-Island #2 (Marvel)
By Christos Gage with art by Paco Diaz
Probably the best Spider-Man tie in from Secret Wars, Spider-Island really does a lot to showcase what makes the Flash Thompson Venom such a good character.  Plus it’s a recent enough event that you don’t have to go back to try and figure out what happened in the original.  And the nice part is I can already see what Thompson is planning and it makes sense given the already established rules of the universe.  It was also great to see Flash’s reaction to Peter Parker as Spider-Man, something we don’t get to see in the regular universe.  The back-up was ok.  I’ve always liked the MU2 universe, but I can’t remember a lot of what was going on in that world before it shut down.  So a lot of the characters are just unknowns to me.  But in a week of mediocrity, this was the best book out there.
