Last week, via their official YouTube channel Star Wars Show (embedded below), Disney announced the dates for the next Star Wars Celebration event. Instead of taking place in Anaheim, London, or Orlando (as had been rumored), it will be taking place in Chicago, from April 11-15, 2019, at McCormick Place. Though no other details have been announced, it is a bit interesting that they’re listing a Monday as the final day of the convention. Tickets go on sale at Noon CDT on June 5th, so expect more information to be available then. If you haven’t been to a Celebration before, you can check out our experiences at 2017’s Orlando event here or 2015’s Anaheim event here. And, of course, you can expect to see us in Chicago in April.
In addition, Disney Parks have announced opening timeframes for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the new Star Wars-themed lands, for both their Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort Parks. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open in summer 2019 at Disneyland Resort and in late fall 2019 at Walt Disney World Resort. Tons of information has already been revealed about the immersive park expansions (including a Millennium Falcon themed ride, dining experiences, a hotel, and more), but expect news to come hot and heavy as we enter the new year. In the meantime, here’s the video released with the announcement.
