I may get a few phone calls for this one… Proper geeks will know all the big names in Science Fiction and Fantasy. Tolkien, Roddenberry, Heinlein and dozens of other writers, producers and directors who feed the geek DVD and book shelf. In our modern day, we have a man by the name of Joss […]
Earlier this week, Twitter was – well – all a-twitter about the death of Dave Arneson, co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons. He was dead. He wasn’t dead. Oh way, he’s dead. Twitter was wrong, but then not so wrong. Dave Arneson lost his epic-level combat with cancer on April 7, 2009. I didn’t know Dave. […]
In an announcement released earlier today, The Cartoon Network declared the May 1st launch of Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Decoded… Coming off of the record-setting first season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Cartoon Network announced today it will premiere Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Decoded, a full slate of 22 enhanced episodes from […]
Sometimes I feel like a monkey. You know what I mean. Too much crap, not enough time. This past weekend for instance… between working in the yard Friday night as well as all day Saturday and Sunday, social commitments and quality time with the missus, there has been remarkably little time for geekery. Sure, I […]
So, Battle for the Cowl #2 comes out this week, furthering the storyline of the Arkham breakout, the group of supervillains led by Black Mask, and, most importantly, the fight for who’ll become the next Batman. As you can tell from the picture at right, last month’s picture of Dick Grayson as Batman was just […]
There is a phenomenon that I’ve noticed in the geek culture. I’ve watched the first Season of Heroes and part of the second. It started to slow down and I felt my time could be better spent drinking cheap booze and watching infomercials. Now, however, I hear about Season 3 of Heroes on a regular […]
I have a dark secret. I’m not a real geek. I’ve tried to be, I really have. I played D&D, watched a lot of Star Trek, gotten into arguments about Return of the Jedi being the best Star Wars movie. I’ve been to conventions, ran games, expressed outrage at the canceling of Firefly, all kinds […]
On tonight’s live episode of the Podge Cast, the hosts will be battling over which movie in our vast history of cinema is the best movie sequel of all time. I can think of a lot of really good sequels. Empire Strikes Back, for instance, is a superior film to A New Hope. For me […]
I love fortune cookies. The simplicity of the crunchy sweetness surrendering the paper prize inside? Love it! It’s that little slip of paper that I take issue with. It’s a fortune cookie, so one would expect to be provided with a fortune. No such luck tonight. After finishing off my plate of Pei Wei goodness, […]
When I was just a wee fanboy, Sunday was comic book day. It wasn’t the day new comics came out. Rather, it was the day I went to the comic shop. My parents were divorced. I lived with Mom, staying with Dad every other weekend. No matter where I was, though, Sunday was comic book […]
