Hell to the yes!

Looks like a director has been named for the upcoming sequel to 30 Days of Night, Dark Days. The original, directed by David Slade (who’s doing the next Twilight film…ugh), was an excellent adaptation of the Steve Niles graphic novel and one of my favorite movies of 2007.  Though I’ve never been able to get into the comic series because of the art, I’m extremely excited about the sequel to the movie.

Looks like Melissa George, who played Stella in the original (and who’s character is the main protagonist of Dark Days), will not be returning.  Dark Days focuses on Stella “as she heads to Los Angeles after surviving the vampire attack in Barrow, Alaska. She intentionally attracts the attention of the local vampire population in order to avenge the death of her husband, Eben, during the Barrow incident.”

That was a spoiler for the first movie, by the way.  Sorry about that.
