The story opens with Annihilus and the Brood Queen meeting to decide on a plan to take over the Galaxy. Peter Quill is now the ruler of the Spartax Empire. Former X-Men member Kitty Pryde is the new Starlord and The Thing has joined the team. The Guardians under the leadership of Rocket steal a Chitauri artifact and need Peter’s help to open it. If you have not been keeping up with the Guardians storyline then this might be a bit of a confusing first issue for you. It doesn’t seem like a first issue to me. I’m gonna give it a shot and see if it impresses me.
