Sorry for the late post, shoveling keep me from my computer for most of the day. So, I’ve been taking on some additional projects outside of my article and because of that I’ve decided two things: one, I’m going to move to a bi-weekly time schedule. This will free up some of time for other projects that I’m working on. TV News: Jonathon Schaech is joining Legends of Tomorrow as Jonah Hex.
Movie News: The Sony/Disney Spider-Man Reboot is moving up – probably because they smell money. This trailer looks so good and makes me feel a lot better about the DC Cinematic Universe.
Comic News: DC Comics will be following Marvel’s example and moving several of their books to bi-weekly. Marvel has announced that because it’s Wednesday, a major hero will die in Civil War II – my guess? Sam Wilson. He’s an extra Captain America at the moment what with Steve Rogers returning.. Mark Waid and Tom Peyer will be joining Aftershock with Captain Kid. A DC Rebirth is coming – is it a line thing or someone specific?

It’s the last page that makes this great. The tear in Alfred’s eye as his son demands to see “his cave” just conveys the pain he feels as all his hopes and dreams for his surrogate son are destroyed. And while Gordon is featured in the issue – the entire thing is basically a conversation between Bruce Wayne and the healed Joker. It’s an amazing piece of work. I am a bit sad that James Gordon’s fight with Mr. Bloom will eventually lead to him being saved by Batman, but this is Bruce Wayne’s book. Gordon is just the current placeholder. I hope he at least gets an assistant.

This was a great ending to the Jonathan Hickman’s run with Marvel Comics. It wrapped up every idea he had ever brought to their Universe and allowed Marvel to reset some of their own ideas (Good-bye, 616! Hello Ear.. I mean Universe Prime!). It even wrapped up the series well, leaving us with an ending and the promise of new adventures. So what was the problem? Once more Marvel’s scheduling problems with events leaves this one holding the empty bag. Since it pretty spoiled every bit of information – save one: The fate of the Richards. Which was a fitting one I have to say. I am just heart-broken that Marvel couldn’t get their shit together to get this out in October.
Earth 2: Society (DC Comics)
Superman: American Alien (DC Comics)
Sigh. Two books I had such high hopes for that are obviously written by people who have no ideas what the actual concepts for these characters are. Earth 2: Society is the ongoing story of the first generation of DC’s stable of characters and my niece could write them better. As for American Alien… Well, Mr. Landis clearly has no idea who or what Superman is supposed to represent. So he shares a lot in common with Warner Brother executives.
