No doubt, the big deal next week in comicdom is the arrival of Detective Comics 854 on store shelves. Detective Comics is a respected, noble title in the world of funny books second (arguably) only to the grand daddy of all superhero floppies Action Comics. It is then of some substantial note that Batman publisher […]
In addition to the third issue of Blackest Night this September, the tie-in miniseries and the Green Lantern series seem to be going batsh*t crazy full of zombie hero goodness! Click the picture below to check out DC’s Blackest Night solicits for September! Warning…crazy spoilers!
Tony Mast is a man who seems to be everywhere at once. He hosts two podcasts (Back Seat Producers and Tony’s Losing It). He’s contributed to and edited three short story anthologies, the most recent of which – Storm Cloud – came out just a few weeks ago. He is currently accepting submissions for a […]
Last week was a nice quiet week for those of us who needed our geek fix. A couple of good comics, but not much else. This week though…we’re getting it in spades! Friday the 13th and Ghostbusters on Blu-Ray, some excellent big event comics, and even a couple of video games! You know you wait […]

Shocking absolutely no one, Marvel revealed today to the NY Daily News that Steve Rogers, Captain America, is coming back from the dead. “The original Captain America is finally coming back,” Marvel Comics editor in chief Joe Quesada told the Daily News. “We’ve been patiently planning for this moment for 21/2 years.” Captain America will […]
I’ve been talking about The Strain, the novel from Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan, for the past couple of weeks now. Reading it, I totally understand the hype. The book is scary, exciting, and a good mix of both the technical parts of Hogan’s writing, with the touches that make it classic del Toro. If you haven’t […]
This week saw the release of the next two titles in DC’s relaunch of the Batman titles, Red Robin and Batman, with new and exciting creative teams and directions and, most importantly, a new man under the cowl. How did they measure up with last week’s Batman and Robin #1, from Grant Morrison and Frank […]
Newsarama has an 8-page preview of the upcoming new Batman title, Streets of Gotham, easily the one Batman: Reborn title I’m most anticipating? Why? Because it’s written by Paul Dini with art by Dustin Nguyen, probably my favorite Bat-team in at least ten years, if not more! Also featured in Streets of Gotham is a […]
