Ya know, I just can’t bring myself to write a long review of 51, another entry in the new series of After Dark Originals that had a recent premiere on SyFy Channel. Unlike the first entry, Husk (review here), which was pretty damn great, 51 feels like what you’d expect to premiere on Saturday night […]
Man…this film looks all kinds of awesome. From the Amblin logo at the beginning to the feeling throughout the trailer, JJ Abrams is clearly going for geek nostalgia with his newest directorial effort, Super 8. I can see all kinds of 80’s Spielberg, Donner, and Howard influence throughout the trailer…and that’s a good thing. I […]
I was tickled to come home tonight to find that one of my Fear the Con buddies has released a music video detailing his romantic woes of loving a woman who don’t like Firefly. I played in a game with Mikey Mason last year and if I recall correctly, he’s in my Shipwrecked on Monster […]
Ya know, The Red Skull is one of those characters that’s just going to look badass regardless of budget. Even that craptacular Captain America movie from the 90’s had a pretty good-lookin’ Red Skull, but wasted it by only having him in the actual Skull for the first scene of the movie. But Hugo Weaving […]
You know, usually the words “SyFy Channel Original Movie,” are not indicative of any kind of quality. In fact, they’re more indicative of a lack thereof. However, they’ve teamed up with After Dark to produce a series of After Dark Originals. Since 2006, After Dark films has put on an annual horrorfest, featuring “8 Films […]
Relatively new horror movie director Christopher Smith is definitely going to be someone to keep an eye on. His first feature-length, Creep, was a creepy flick set in a subway and starred Franka Potente (Run Lola Run). From there, he did the pretty damn great Severance (imagine Office Space meets Hostel), then his American debut, […]
Kaare Andrews does more than just draw pretty. The artist behind the recent relaunch Astonishing X-Men and Spider-Man: Reign (a Dark Knight Returns-esque take on Spidey) is also a movie director. His first feature length film is the low budget horror flick Altitude, starring Jessica Lowndes (“90210”) and Julianna Guill (Friday the 13th remake – […]
I love me some Zach Snyder (though I didn’t see that owl film he did with the 30 Seconds to Mars song in the trailer – was it good?), and damn, I’m excited for Sucker Punch. I literally don’t give a crap what the film is about when it looks this amazing. March 25th. Hell […]
Source: Bloody Disgusting So a while back we told you about how the Japanese division of Warner Brothers is working on Supernatural: The Animation, a 22-episode series from Madhouse (Batman: Gotham Knight and Death Note). The project is set to remake the best episodes from the live-action television show, as well as have original episodes […]
Man, this thing is awesome. Guess we know what Robert Rodriguez has been up to instead of, you know, directing movies. Not to be mean, but has he directed a flick since Grindhouse? Besides Machete, of course, which was co-directed. I love me some Robert Rodriguez, and I’d just love to see more output from […]
