So, your work week has sucked, and rather than wait till Friday night to drink yourself silly, you’re probably going out tonight to party like a rock star because, really, it’s not like anyone works on Friday anyway, right?

Well, make sure not to drink so much that you pass out before 10 o’clock. See, as much as I’ve avoided watching any of the new shows on TV, despite that fact that a couple of them have seemed really interesting, tonight I’m stuck. See, the only new show I’ve picked up watching, that isn’t in at least it’s second or third season, is Castle, just because I don’t want to spend hours in front of the TV every night.  Well, stupid TV got me today, and they got me good.  TWO shows I really want to see premiere tonight (which is my big TV night already with Smallville and Supernatural), and at the same damn time!!!  SouthLAnd, which is more of a cop show, starring the dude from the OC, comes on NBC at 10PM EST.  Harper’s Island, which is kind of like a slasher film/Agatha Christie movie that tells it’s entire story in 12 episodes, premieres at the same time on CBS.  Luckily, my DVR can record two shows at the same time, because otherwise I’d be screwed.

Check out more info on both after the jump:

Southland, starring Benjamin McKenzieSouthLAnd, according to the official site,

From Emmy Award winners John Wells, Ann Biderman and Chris Chulack comes a raw and authentic look at a police unit in Los Angeles. From the beaches of Malibu to the streets of East Los Angeles, “Southland” is a fast-moving drama that will take viewers inside the lives of cops, criminals, victims and their families.

Michael Cudlitz (“A River Runs Through It”) plays John Cooper a seasoned Los Angeles cop, assigned to train young rookie Ben Sherman (Ben McKenzie, “The O.C.”). Cooper’s honest, no-nonsense approach to the job leaves Sherman questioning whether or not he has what it takes to become a police officer.

Cudlitz and McKenzie are joined by other cast members, including Regina King (“Ray,” “Jerry Maguire”), who plays Detective Lydia Adams. Adams lives with and is the primary caregiver of her mother. Her partner, Detective Russell Clarke (Tom Everett Scott, “Boiler Room”) is an unhappily married father of three. Michael McGrady (“The Thin Red Line”) plays Detective Daniel “Sal” Salinger. Sal oversees fellow gang detectives Nate Moretta (Kevin Alejandro, “Drive,” “Ugly Betty”) and Sammy Bryant (Shawn Hatosy, “Alpha Dog”). Arija Bareikis (“Crossing Jordan”) plays patrol officer Chickie Brown, a single mom who dreams of being the first woman accepted into SWAT.

“Southland” is a John Wells Production in association with Warner Bros. Television. Wells, Chulack and Biderman serve as executive producers. Biderman is the creator and Chulack will also serve as director of the series.

Harper's IslandMeanwhile,on Harper’s Island,

HARPER’S ISLAND is about a group of family and friends who travel to a secluded island off the coast of Seattle for a destination wedding. This island is famous for a streak of unsolved murders from seven years ago. Although they’ve come to laugh and to love, what they don’t know is they’ve also come… to die. As the wedding festivities begin, friendships are tested and secrets exposed as a murderer claims victims, one by one, transforming the wedding week of fun and celebration into a terrifying struggle for survival.

In every episode, someone is killed and every person is a suspect, from the wedding party to the island locals. By the end of the 13 episodes, all questions will be answered, the killer will be revealed and only a few will survive.

Don’t miss the broadcast premiere of HARPER’S ISLAND on Thursday, April 9 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT).

If you’re bored at work, you can watch the season premiere of SouthLAnd, legally, at the official site. Otherwise, they both premiere tonight at 10PM ET. Set your DVRs and let us know what you think of what you ended up watching!
