Robert Rodriguez, the man behind the rejuvenation of the Predator franchise.

I wish I had a direct line with Robert Rodriguez.  I’d call him at all hours of the day and night, asking him about his newest projects, and begging him to make me some Sin City Breakfast Tacos (buy the special edition DVD if you don’t know what I’m talking about).  Of course, that may be why I don’t have a direct line to him.  That, and he doesn’t know who I am.

Anywho, Harry Knowles does have a direct line to Rodriguez, which I’d imagine is like the Batphone, only shaped like a mariachi guitar.  Given all the hubbub surrounding the rumors that Nimrod Antal would be directing the next film in the Predator franchise, Predators, he thought he would get the low down straight from the source.

As it turns 0ut, yes, Nimrod Antal, of Vacancy and the upcoming Armored, is directing Predators.  Sounds like they’re still going with Rodriguez’s original take on the screenplay, though:

it still involves a very intense group of people stranded on a Predator planet discovering unspeakable horrors (that are not always from outside their group). So like the original movie, the title does have a double meaning.

Which helps explain the rumored Ah-nuld cameo in the movie.  Perhaps he’s been fighting on the planet this whole time?
