This news has be cautiously optimistic. Remember how excited we all were when John Woo left Hong Kong to make movies in America? We were all psyched for Hard Target…then Face/Off…then, well, we just didn’t give a crap, because his American movie output was pretty horrid. Well, here’s hoping history won’t repeat itself. Because The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Prachya Pinkaew and Panna Rittikrai, the team behind Ong Bak, The Protector, and Chocolate, are set to make their English-speaking movie debut with the film City of Angels.
Not much is known about the film’s storyline, but it is written by and will co-star Robin Shou (yes, Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat), along with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who no longer goes by “The Rock.”
Super excited about this one, but also nervous. Their most recent film, Chocolate, kicked all kinds of ass, but I doubt they’ll get away with quite some of the amazing stunts they had in that one in an American film. Here’s hoping!
