At GenCon, I picked up the Zombies!!! board game, a game I first played at Fear the Con 2. Zombies!!! is a lot of fun because – well, zombies – and because it has characteristics of some of my favorite games. There’s the strategy and forward-thinking of chess. Truly, you need to be considering not […]
Kicking off our series of New Comic Book Day interviews, we bring you DC Comics writer Matt Sturges. Author of such titles as Final Crisis Aftermath: Run!, House of Mystery, Jack of Fables, Justice Society of America (with Bill Willingham) and the upcoming JSA: All-Stars, Sturges spoke with us about his current and upcoming projects […]
Well, I’ve worked my way through my introduction back into comics. What’s next? First of all, I want to get more in depth with my reviews. It’s safe to say you may see spoiler warnings from time to time. But, with that in mind, here’s a few different ideas I have: Character Spotlight: I want […]
Of course new comic day has come and gone, but better late than never, right? Replacing our old feature The Crap You Should Buy This Week, The Pull-List is our opportunity to tell you guys about the crap we’re going to buy this week (and probably speak about during our podcast), so you can get […]
New Mutants #1-3 This is a great book for new readers and old fans alike. The title begins right with the Return of Legion storyline. This story (at least the first 3 parts, I’ve read) gives new readers a great, fresh story, while old readers of the first New Mutants are given a rare amount […]
The Mighty Avengers #27 This is one of the few books, I picked up that was beginning a storyline. This Avengers title is unique, in that it does not tie in with the Dark Reign event going on in Marvel. I claim to not be into cosmic level heroes or villains, but in a book […]
X-Factor #45-46 If you’re only reading one X-Title, this should NOT be it. This book is crap, man. Seriously, it’s a bit steaming. The characters are a flat and uninteresting motley crew of F-list characters. You stick Aron Head in this book with no powers, and it’s more interesting. Luke Meyer would have too much […]
I didn’t buy a whole lot at Gen Con. Three games. That’s it. This is really weird for me. Sure, I only picked up a few things at Fear the Con, but that was an awfully small convention with only one dealer. Even so, I bought almost as much there as I did at Gen […]
If you listen to the RPG podcasts coming out of last weekend’s Gen Con, you’ll no doubt hear a common question: What was your goal for Gen Con? Me? I came to town to play games. And I did. Lots of them. I’ve already mentioned Luke Meyer’s very awesome scenario for Hunter: The Vigil, “The […]
Gamers have all played in games that were less than we wanted them to be. It’s easy to get the wrong mix of players at the table where they fail to listen to one another and support each other’s fun. The GM’s energy may be low. I’ve even seen where the entire group just doesn’t […]
