Back in the old days (mid 90’s or so), I wasn’t a big fan of Deadpool. Sure, he’s a mutant with ties to Wolverine’s origin and occasionally made appearances in the X-Books, but I always considered his books to be as close to the X-Men as Ghostrider. Now, that I’m back in, and branching out […]
Finally! I know I’m an impatient bastard, but damn…the news on all of my favorite Halloween events seems to be coming very slowly this year. Usually there’s more build up, more anticipation … but everything has been coming out in little droplets, rather than spurts. While the full details of Tampa’s Howl-O-Scream event have yet […]
Wasn’t there a Shaq movie already called Shazam? Does that mean this movie has to be called Captain Marvel? Wait…just looked it up. It was called Kazaam, and it most certainly sucked. Anyhow, in less important, less Shaq-related news (now I’m in the mood to play Shaq-Fu), Geoff Johns, who we’re pretty much whores for […]
In addition to playing games, buying stuff, and hanging out with friends, seeing all the cool people and things is just as much a part of the experience as the rest of it. People in costume are always fun. All the games are cool. Just seeing the crowd of people sharing your interest is awesome. […]
Listeners to Ideology of Madness’ podcast, Funny Books with Aron & Paulie, will recall Jonathan Landreth had a lot to say about comics on his podcast, Kicked in the Dicebags, after our first episode. Jonathan was out of comics for a lengthy period. Listening to Funny Books, got him back into the hobby. We’ve invited […]
When folks think about awards at Gen Con, the Ennies generally come to mind. The Ennies are nice sure – if you’re into popularity contests. Nominees are selected by a panel of judges, but the winners are selected by fan popular vote. It’s kind of a People’s Choice Award for the RPG-set. Far more prestigious […]
I didn’t buy a whole lot at Gen Con. Three games. That’s it. This is really weird for me. Sure, I only picked up a few things at Fear the Con, but that was an awfully small convention with only one dealer. Even so, I bought almost as much there as I did at Gen […]
So, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter and EW, we now know that the upcoming Battlestar Galtactica prequel series CAPRICA (coming to Syfy January 22), which already boasts an impressive cast (including series leads Eric Stoltz and Esai Morales), will be adding two big name (at least in geekdom) stars! Buffy/Angel/Torchwood’s James Marsters will be playing […]
If you listen to the RPG podcasts coming out of last weekend’s Gen Con, you’ll no doubt hear a common question: What was your goal for Gen Con? Me? I came to town to play games. And I did. Lots of them. I’ve already mentioned Luke Meyer’s very awesome scenario for Hunter: The Vigil, “The […]
I really hope that Universal Studios Orlando will have this, as I probably (read definitely) won’t be able to attend the Halloween Horror Nights event in Hollywood. Sounds like, in addition to the already announced haunted maze based on Saw, the “scarezone” based on Shaun of the Dead, and the Rocky Horror Picture Show musical […]
